Since November 30, 2022, the government has officially introduced licensing and registration for Mini Electric Two-Wheel Vehicles. To encourage owners of "Mini Electric Two-Wheel Vehicles" in use to register their vehicles promptly, those who complete the "registration for Mini Electric Two-Wheel Vehicles in use" by the end of 2023 can take advantage of a waiver on the Motor Plate fee of 300 NT dollars and a Motor License fee of 150 NT dollars, totaling 450 NT dollars. The primary objective of vehicle registration is to ensure better management and reduce accidents through safe riding. Furthermore, after registration, owners can obtain mandatory insurance, providing significant safety measures. To simplify the registration process for owners, the Highway Bureau has introduced an "On-Site Service" for registration procedures, with service hours and location information available in the Mini Electric Two-Wheel Vehicle section on the "Motor Vehicle Driver Information Service" website (https://www.mvdis.gov.tw/) for public reference.Mr. Huang Yongsong, director of the Nantou Motor Vehicles Station, points out that, in addition to mandatory insurance and obtaining a license, Mini Electric Two-Wheel Vehicles are subject to age restrictions, requiring riders to be at least 14 years old. They must also wear approved safety helmets and refrain from carrying passengers or making unauthorized modifications to their vehicles to ensure safety. Riders must adhere to pertinent legal regulations, and the public is reminded to complete the registrations of their vehicles by the end of 2023 to enjoy the benefits of fee waivers.
